Grammar and Punctuation
Grammar and Punctuation
Throughout our ‘Pathways to Write’ units, specific grammar and punctuation skills for each year group are taught to our children. These are taught as part of English lessons in conjunction with the text. As a result, the children have many opportunities throughout the unit to develop and practice new skills in the context of writing while demonstrating skills from previous years. Grammar and punctuation skills from previous units will also be revisited and developed.
As a staff, we are able to adapt planning and the sequence of teaching in each unit in order to clarify any misconceptions around grammar and punctuation. If necessary, skills will be taught again so that children can develop their fluency and are therefore able to apply skills more readily across a range of writing.
