R.E. and Worldviews

The teaching of Religious Education (RE) and Worldviews is statutory in all schools. At Upton Westlea, we follow the Cheshire West and Chester Council Agreed Syllabus.

Through the teaching of Religious Education and Worldviews, children learn the essential knowledge of  religions and worldviews, as well as skills and attitudes such as critical thinking and empathy. This understanding of others’ worldviews is an essential first step to enabling each pupil to understand, reflect on and develop their own personal worldview, which is one of the core tasks of education.

Aims

To develop an understanding and respect for the beliefs, values and practices of other people.

To reflect on and respond to the values, beliefs and practices of religions and philosophies.

To enable pupils to develop their own insights.

If parents/carers would like any further information regarding R.E. lessons please do not hesistate to contact your child's class teacher. Parents have the right to withdraw their child from Religious Education.  Suitable alternative provision will be made.
